What is Post-Tensioning?

Post-tensioning (PT) is a method of prestressing in which prestressing steel is tensioned after concrete has hardened.

Prestressed concrete is the term used to describe any concrete member in which a compressive stress is introduced to the member before any loading is applied.  This compressive stress reduces the tensile stresses in the concrete due to the applied loading.

Prestressing Steel is high-strength steel used to prestress concrete, consisting of seven-wire strands, bars, wires, or groups of such elements.

Pretensioning is a method of prestressing in which prestressing steel is tensioned before the concrete is placed.
