FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – January 19, 2025 – The Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI), the world's leading authority on post-tensioning, will celebrate its 50th anniversary throughout 2026.
Founded in 1976, PTI has spent five decades advancing the quality, safety and use of post-tensioned concrete construction.
The year-long celebration will honor the institute's history of innovation and its contributions to the construction industry. A key focus of the anniversary festivities will be the 2026 PTI Convention, scheduled to take place in Long Beach, Calif.
The convention will feature a special 50th anniversary gala, a "Hall of Innovation" interactive exhibit showcasing the evolution of post-tensioning technology and limited-edition giveaways for all attendees.
"This anniversary is a chance to honor the visionaries who laid the groundwork, the members who drive PTI's mission forward and the innovations that continue to shape the future of PT,"" said Coy Williams, president of PTI. "As we reflect on our journey, we're reminded that our greatest achievements lie not just in what we've built, but in the community we've built it with."
In addition to the convention events, there will be celebratory events and materials all year long, such as a monthly "Did You Know?" social media series looking back on the history of PTI and the post-tensioning industry, exclusive webinars and podcasts featuring industry pioneers, interviews with PTI leaders and long-standing members, an article in the PTI JOURNAL, a special edition 50th Anniversary logo and more. These activities are designed to reflect on the institute's legacy and build excitement for its future.
For 50 years, PTI has served as a resource for engineers, architects and construction professionals by developing standards, educational programs and technical resources. The anniversary celebrates the dedication of its members and their role in promoting the benefits of post-tensioning.
